International schools in Bangkok by station: Sukhumvit and beyond

Last checked 6 October 2026 · 11 min read · English

For most families moving to Bangkok, the school decides the neighbourhood. The morning run on Sukhumvit can be a ten-minute walk or forty minutes in traffic, so the simple rule is: choose the school first, then live within walking distance or a few BTS stops of it. Here is every major international school along the Sukhumvit line, from Nana to Bang Na, grouped by station, followed by the main schools near other BTS and MRT lines in central Bangkok.

Nana and Asok

NIST International School · Sukhumvit Soi 15

Bangkok's first IB school and the first to offer all three IB programmes (PYP, MYP and Diploma), for ages 3 to 18, about 500 metres from BTS Asok and Nana. It is also one of the most expensive: indicative tuition is roughly ฿630,000–1,095,000 a year, plus significant one-time fees. Families who want to walk to school live on the quieter sois between Nana and Asok; others choose Ploenchit or Chidlom for larger apartments a few stops away.

Australian International School Bangkok · Sukhumvit Soi 20 area

Australian curriculum leading to Cambridge IGCSE and A Levels, ages 3 to 18, between Asok and Phrom Phong. Indicative tuition about ฿336,000–569,000 a year. Confirm the current campus address with the school, as directories list it differently.

Satit Prasarnmit International Programme · Sukhumvit Soi 23

The first international programme run by a Thai government university school, within Srinakharinwirot University's demonstration school, close to BTS Asok and MRT Sukhumvit. It attracts many Thai families, and fees are reported at about ฿300,000–400,000 a year; check the current curriculum and fees directly with the school.

Phrom Phong

Modern International School Bangkok (MISB) · Sukhumvit Soi 39

A smaller British-curriculum school on Soi Phrom Mit, about 1 km from BTS Phrom Phong, with IGCSE and A Levels for ages 3 to 18. One of the most affordable British options, at roughly ฿200,000–260,000 a year.

Anglo Singapore International School, Campus 31 · Sukhumvit Soi 31

Singapore and Cambridge curricula for ages 1½ to 12 (kindergarten and primary), with Mandarin, Japanese and Korean on offer. Indicative tuition about ฿380,000–560,000. Older students continue at the Sukhumvit 64 campus.

XCL American School of Bangkok · Sukhumvit Soi 49/3

American curriculum with more than 20 AP courses, Pre-K to Grade 12, between Phrom Phong and Thong Lo. Known for its mindful-education approach and small classes of about 20, with students of around 40 nationalities. Indicative tuition about ฿450,000–810,000.

ELC International School · Sukhumvit Soi 49/4

Early years and primary only, ages 2 to 11, with a Reggio Emilia-inspired approach and Mandarin from kindergarten. Popular with families in Phrom Phong and Thong Lo.

Thong Lo and Ekkamai

Trinity International School · Sukhumvit Soi 36

American curriculum with AP, ages 3 to 18, about 300 metres from BTS Thong Lo, the closest school to a station on this list. Fees are moderate, roughly ฿200,000–300,000 a year.

Wells International School, Thong Lo · Sukhumvit Soi 51

American curriculum for younger children, Nursery to Grade 3, a short walk from BTS Thong Lo. Wells also has On Nut and Bang Na campuses for older students; indicative tuition across campuses is about ฿260,000–570,000.

Ekamai International School (EIS) · Sukhumvit Soi 63

American curriculum, Pre-K to Grade 12, about 400 metres from BTS Ekkamai, and the most affordable school here at roughly ฿170,000–180,000 a year including required fees.

St Andrews International School Bangkok · near BTS Ekkamai

Run by Nord Anglia Education, with two campuses. The High School (ages 11–18) is at 1020 Sukhumvit Road beside Ekkamai Gateway, between BTS Ekkamai and Phra Khanong; the Primary School (ages 2–11) is on Sukhumvit 71 (Pridi Banomyong 20/1). English National Curriculum, then IGCSE and the IB Diploma or IB Career-related Programme. Indicative tuition about ฿400,000–850,000 a year. Not to be confused with St Andrews Sukhumvit 107, a separate school near BTS Bearing.

Phra Khanong, On Nut and Bang Chak

Bangkok Prep · Sukhumvit Soi 77

British curriculum with IGCSE and A Levels, ages 2 to 18. The secondary school moved to the Sukhumvit 77 campus near BTS On Nut in 2017 and the primary school followed in 2023, so older guides that place Bangkok Prep on Soi 53 are out of date. Indicative tuition about ฿385,000–860,000. Many families live from Ekkamai to On Nut, where larger condos and houses cost less than in Thong Lo.

Anglo Singapore International School, Campus 64 · Sukhumvit Soi 64

Bangkok Patana School · Lasalle Road (Sukhumvit 105)

Thailand's longest-established British international school, non-profit, ages 2 to 18, with IGCSE and the IB Diploma on a large green campus. It is about 3 km from BTS Bearing, so most families use the school bus or drive. Indicative tuition about ฿515,000–1,015,000.

Berkeley, Concordian and Wells Bang Na

Berkeley International School (American, AP, ages 2–18) is at Bangna–Trad km 1, near BTS Bang Na. Concordian International School (IB, with English, Mandarin and Thai) is further out at Bangna–Trad km 7. Wells Bang Na is on Srinakarin Soi 62. All three suit families living in houses in the Bang Na area rather than condos in central Sukhumvit.

For Japanese families

The Thai-Japanese Association School, the main Japanese school in Bangkok, follows the Japanese national curriculum from Grade 1 to junior high school. It is on Rama 9 Soi 17 in Huai Khwang, not on the BTS, so families living in Phrom Phong and Thong Lo rely on the school bus. Ask the school which buildings its bus routes cover before you sign a lease. See also BTS or MRT.

Beyond Sukhumvit: schools near other lines

Not every family lives on Sukhumvit. These schools sit near the Silom Line, the MRT or the river, and suit families renting in Sathorn, Silom, Rama 9 or along the Chao Phraya.

Silom, Sathorn and the riverside

Shrewsbury International School Bangkok, Riverside is on Charoen Krung Road by the river: British curriculum with IGCSE and A Levels, ages 3 to 18, on a 40-rai campus with about 2,000 students. It is about 2.5–3 km from BTS Saphan Taksin, so families often live in riverside condos or in Sathorn. Indicative tuition about ฿690,000–1,210,000. St Andrews International School Sathorn, on Sathorn Soi 4 near BTS Chong Nonsi and MRT Lumphini, is a small British primary school for ages 2 to 11, run by Cognita.

Rama 3

King's College International School Bangkok opened in 2020 as a sister school of King's College School, Wimbledon: British curriculum with IGCSE and A Levels, ages 2 to 18, rated Outstanding in its 2024 British Schools Overseas inspection. There is no train close by, so most families drive from Sathorn or the riverside. Indicative tuition about ฿615,000–1,065,000.

Rama 9 and Huai Khwang

KIS International School on Pracha Uthit Road offers all four IB programmes for ages 3 to 18, with a school shuttle from the MRT; indicative tuition about ฿440,000–945,000. Shrewsbury City Campus, nearby on Rim Khlong Samsen Road, is a British primary school for ages 2 to 11 with an optional English–Mandarin bilingual track; indicative tuition about ฿670,000–910,000. Regent's International School Bangkok, also on Pracha Uthit Road and part of Nord Anglia, follows the English National Curriculum to IGCSE and the IB Diploma for ages 2 to 18. All three are a taxi ride from MRT Phra Ram 9, Phetchaburi or Thailand Cultural Centre, and many families commute from Asok and Phrom Phong.

Dusit

St Andrews International School Dusit, on Sawankhalok Road, is a British primary school for ages 2 to 11, also run by Cognita, with indicative tuition about ฿277,000–611,000.

Further out, by car

Several large campuses are outside the centre and suit families living in houses nearby rather than condos in town: International School Bangkok (ISB) in Pak Kret, Nonthaburi; Harrow International School in Don Mueang; Ruamrudee International School and Bromsgrove in Min Buri; Brighton College and Wellington College on Krungthep Kreetha Road; Charter and Pan-Asia in Prawet; and Verso, Raffles American School and the Singapore International School of Bangkok near Suvarnabhumi.

International kindergartens and early years

For children under six, there are many smaller nurseries and kindergartens between Asok and Ekkamai. These were operating in 2025–2026 according to their own websites or recent directories:

Small schools open, move and close more often than large ones. Several names on older lists could not be confirmed as still operating in 2026, so always check with the school before you plan around it.

How much do schools cost here? A survey by Realist of 15 international schools in the Asok–Thong Lo area put average annual tuition at about ฿333,500, from well under ฿200,000 to almost ฿1,000,000 at the top end.

What to check before you sign a lease

  1. Walk the route at 7:30 am. A building two sois away can still mean crossing Sukhumvit Road in traffic.
  2. School bus stops. Ask the school which buildings its buses already serve.
  3. Space for a family: a real third bedroom, a maid's room, storage and a pool suitable for children.
  4. Lease timing. Align move-in with the school term, and ask for a diplomatic clause if your posting could end early.
  5. Waiting lists. Popular year groups fill early; secure the school place before you commit to a long lease.
Kathy's view: the most common mistake I see is choosing a beautiful condo first and the school second. On Sukhumvit, ten sois can mean an extra half hour every morning. If your children are at NIST, look from Chidlom to Asok; for ELC and the American School, Phrom Phong and Thong Lo; for Bangkok Prep, Ekkamai to On Nut; and for Patana or St Andrews 107, consider a house in Bang Na instead of a condo in town.
